Dr. Deepa Divekar is a Paediatric Neurologist and the Medical Director of Sahyadri Speciality Hospital since its inception in 2004.
She passed her MBBS in 1976 and MD in Paediatrics in 1980 from B.J.M.C., Pune University.
She did her fellowship in Paediatrics Neurology from Hospital for Sick Children Great Ormond Street London in 1992.
Since then she is practicing as a Paediatric Neurologist in Pune City.
Her interest in Social needs of children dates back to 1978, when she was a visiting Pediatrician to an Orphanage St. John’s Home for Women & Children for 14 years.
She then became a Founder Trustee of Pune Institute of Neurology in 1993 and started the first of its kind Childhood Epilepsy Programme with comprehensive care for all children suffering from Epilepsy, including school and home visits, counseling and treatment.
Later in 2004, she along with her other core group members, started the Sahyadri Group of Hospitals and is at present the Medical Director and Director for Research and Academics in Sahyadri.
She is a Trustee in the ‘Samavedana’ project which helps needy patients to meet with their hospital expenses.
Her interest lies with all children who have chronic illness like Epilepsy, Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy and Children with special needs like Autism, Learning Disabilities and ADHD.
